Turning 5 has never been so fun! Gracie (obvi) has a thing for Elsa. Like, obsessed. And I was originally planning a “princess” themed birthday, but she refused anything pink and wanted blue and it just kind of turned into an Elsa party. I always wanted to make number 5 pretty big. I got the idea for having Elsa and Anna come when so many of Gracie’s friends where taking Disney trips and “meeting” characters. Gracie would come home from school talking about who so-and-so met and how much she wanted to meet those characters. This was a much cheaper alternative to a Disney trip.
I kept Elsa coming a surprise. It really built the anticipation for me and I knew Gracie would have been devastated if something were to happen and Elsa didn’t make it. Also, surprises are the best. When Gracie opened the door for her unknown new guests that was ringing the door bell, her face was priceless. She was super excited, and then really shy. Elsa and Anna (or the Ice Princess and Snow Sister) burst in already singing. Gracie was stunned. After a moment they led Gracie to the backyard where the other kids where to have them join in a circle and sing along. The faces on those kids where hilarious. It took them a minute to understand what was going on. While they were in the circle their faces where stone straight, just not sure what to think and in total awe!
After the sing along and then making everyone princesses with magic fairy dust (you can see Eli holding his hand out for some dust below) they helped Gracie blow out the candles and had some moments with her. Elsa (ehem, Ice Queen) gave her a special tiara which Gracie walks around with now all day.
The whole day happened so fast, but every moment was awesome. I’m so glad Gracie was happy and she is still talking about it.
My sister made Gracie’s cake and macaroons (you can see it below) and did an amazing job!
