You are unique. There is no other couple like you on Earth. Your relationship is important and this is a celebration of a short time in your relationship! Just like your wedding day should be well documented, so should your Coastal Virginia engagement! Last week we talked about the why, and now this is the how of engagement sessions!
When it comes down to the planning there are many factors to consider: Location, season, time of day, props and outfits! More than you thought? Yes, and all five work together to tell a story and represent you both well.
All those things work together and depend on each other.
As a Coastal Virginia Engagement Photographer I have a lot of advice and thoughts about planning your session in this area.
Want fall foliage and sweaters? Then don’t plan a September engagement, you will have to wait until November to see lower temps and changing leaves in most areas of Virginia.
Do you dream of walking through an open field? Then I would do early spring or late fall engagement session because snakes and bugs fill those fields in the heat!
Sunrise light or sunset? Well if you want to have your engagement session in a popular place like the beach or in a city park you need to schedule for sunrise when the crowds are not too bad. If you hate waking up early then pick a location with less crowds.
So many choices and so many things you might not have thought about! Don’t become overwhelmed! Before you begin thinking through each element of the engagement session, think about who you are as a couple. Write down a few of the things you love to do together, and maybe some things that are unique to just you. Talk to your photographer about those things and they will help you fit all that in to make the perfect engagement session.
