The Noland Trail in the fall is magical and one of the best places for family portraits! It is a photographers playground! The sun is always golden it seems and the trees are on fire with color. Thankfully it was not too cold yet for this family portrait session and Haley, Jamie and little Emmy had so many reasons to capture this time as a family, the biggest one being Emmy's first birthday!

I remember Gracie turning one

...and I got her naked except for a diaper and tutu, spend all day decorating a little cake, took her on the front porch and let her have at it. She was the cutest and it was not just gorgeous pictures, but one of the sweetest memories I have form her baby year. That's right! You ONLY get one year with your baby and that first birthday IS something to celebrate.

Thankfully Haley was smarter than me

...and bought her cake from Nothing Bunt Cakes, which looked so cute AND yummy. She didn't spend all day on it just to have it destroyed moments later. But all us moms sometimes have to learn the hard way too. That picture I have of Gracie covered in cake and naked is framed and sitting on her dresser. She is now six years old and so different from that picture, but I love that when I got in there, I get to look back. And she will always remember that she is MY baby no matter how old she gets.
