This Yorktown Anniversary

...session was closer to my heart than usual.

The first time I met Kayla, she and Casey had come to visit our church and we were in a smaller bible study with other college/ young adults. She was so quiet and shy. Casey was not. He jumped right into our discussions, and Kayla just soaked it all in. They were fresh newlyweds and Casey, being in the army, placed them here very far from the home Kayla only knew in Atlanta. That quiet girl got a job with the church and grew and became a wonderful leader and friend. Casey and Ryan were sports buds and the kind of guys that were good at any sport to put in front of them. They quickly bonded, and Kayla and I became great friends as well.

We knew with the Army

...that they would eventually move away, we just didn't know when and I secretly hoped that they would just somehow end up here forever. 4 years later the time finally came. All that I had dreaded became true. Casey has served in the Army and got his MBA and now they were moving back to Atlanta.

This session

...was our last double date night with them out of so many, and so many great memories made together. They hung out with us on Halloweens, came to Easter dinners, snow days, small groups at church. They were true friends and we will forever miss them! So glad I got to document this chapter of their lives! Yorktown seems to be a great representation of where we live. It is unique to us as this area is historic and coastal.

Casey and Kayla we will miss you both so much! We will have to plan a visit! I know I am always driving through crazy Atlanta to Florida so I will always plan to see my friend if it is possible!
